October 15, 2025

We’re proud to highlight the attorneys at Ruggeri Parks Weinberg LLP who deliver outstanding results for our clients.

As part of this ongoing series, we’re featuring members of our team, sharing their unique perspectives and what drives them forward, both personally and professionally.

Hear insights from James Burke:

What drew you to your current practice area? I specialize in financial litigation.  Disputes related to business bankruptcy cases and insolvency proceedings are my “sweet spot.” I was initially drawn to bankruptcy law because it feeds my curiosity about how businesses succeed and fail. For me, each bankruptcy case is like a business school case study. I also like that bankruptcy law frequently intersects with other legal fields and expert disciplines. Bankruptcy law is an ideal practice area for someone who enjoys continually learning and teaming with other professionals.

How do you collaborate with clients to achieve the best outcomes in your practice? I consider it a first principle that our cases belong to our clients, and they define the best outcomes. Regular communication is the proven method for ensuring that we stay aligned on achieving those outcomes, particularly in a fluid situation like a bankruptcy case. I also agree with the axiom that litigation is storytelling. We tell our clients’ stories most effectively when we infuse the clients’ business perspectives into our case narratives and legal analyses.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your practice? Reporting to our clients that they achieved a positive outcome. The win for us is when our clients succeed.

What’s a book, movie, or show you always recommend? I’m a superfan of all things comedy. I find comedy gives balance to the day-to-day seriousness of lawyering.

Do you have any hidden talents or unexpected hobbies? These days, my hobby is supporting my kids’ hobbies: figure skating, hockey, and arts and crafts. But I misspent some of my youth surfing and I aim to pick it back up someday.
